A phototour of the explosion area - July20

A series of 54 photos were taken this afternoon during a walkingtour of the fuel leak site, Hannah Creek and down to the WhatcomCreek gorge where the explosion was at its peak. Thor Cutler, theOn-Scene Coordinator for the EPA for the explosion cleanup, providedthe guided tour. He allowed me to photograph anything I saw.

Thisis a photo of the mushroom cloud from the explosion/fire on WhatcomCreek this afternoon. It was taken about 5:20 pm, 20 minutes afterWhatcom Creek exploded and about 3 miles away. We are looking NE fromthe south side of Bellingham, at Knox and 20th.

Thereis a second photo from I-5 looking east towards Lake Whatcom showingthe black plume of smoke rising from the burning gasoline pipelinerupture about 1 1/2 miles east of the freeway. This was taken fromFrazer and King streets.
