Time to Close the Northern Border?

Is the Herald to be congratulated for exposing this plot threatening the economic security of Whatcom County? Is this accusatory headline supported by the article or the facts? Or perhaps, just perhaps, the Herald is having fun with us and selling a few more papers as a result. What's the harm in that?

Apr 18, 2008My theory is that gas prices are higher near refineries to help them recapture the property taxes they are assessed.
Nevertheless, Canadians do outnumber us and that artificial line drawn through the Fraser delta may not be sufficient protection.
It is particularly galling that the capitol of British Columbia is 55 miles southwest of Bellingham. Canada is supposed to be north of us. We are their southern neighbors. This is obviously all screwed up.
It may be possible to mount an expeditionary force of kayaks and rowboats to sneak through the San Juans and storm the parliament in Victoria. If we seized the government and moved the line up north of Point Roberts, we would solve a lot of logistic problems for isolated Whatcom County Residents, increase the driving distance to Bellis Fair Mall and add a considerable buffer between us and that annoyingly vigorous loony!
