The hearing on the proposed 164 unit apartments in the Puget Neighborhood that was scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, March 20 at 6 p.m. has been cancelled.  It will be rescheduled at some later date.  This was per the request of the developer.

NWCitizen writer Dick Conoboy posted the info on this cancellation in his article of March 12.  You can see the article as the second one down in the middle column.

Today's Bellingham Herald has a top-of-the-front-page article by Ralph Schwartz that states the meeting will be held tomorrow.  This is an error.  We can only guess Ralph checked the city website,  which still listed the meeting as on. But we all know the city website tends to lag behind on changing events.   We checked with city hall this morning and confirmed the cancellation.

NWCitizen has posted several articles on this issue - if you want to learn more.  While the Herald article never mentioned it, one of the reasons neighbors are questioning this project is the convoluted permits the developer is seeking.  This is key to the entire issue, while the Herald article contained quotes from neighbors that made them look like knee jerk nimbys.  In truth, the developer is using unusual codes for some of the project and not the normal "apartment" rules.  This changes much about this project.  Read the articles by Dick Conoboy and Wendy Harris to get the full information.  Links below this article.
