Eclipse

Last night's clould cover presented a challenge to local eclipse buffs. However, there was enough of a break at 11:40 p.m. to get a peek. In this photo, the moon has just fully entered the earth's shadow. Between the very low light level and the intervening clouds, there's not much detail left. But hey, this is the first lunar eclipse on the winter solstice since 1632 A.D.

And if you are a Mayan Calendar aficiando, there are only 730 days left until the "End of Time." Politicians beware, the winners of the 2012 election may have a very short term of office.
