Cause for celebration in some quarters - the City installed the replacement basketball hoop in Harriet Spanel Park today to replace the one taken out by a medically-impaired driver last June. I say some quarters because some park neighbors find the spung spung spung crash sound of shooting hoops a sound intrusion into their peaceful enjoyment. I live out of earshot so I was a bit surprised that the hoop replacement was not greeted with universal cries of joy hallelujah but was kindly educated by a couple of neighbors in this regard. Oh well sorry I guess but I think on balance the hoop encourages healthy activity, which is a social good. Perhaps we could agree as neighbors on a cutoff time for shooting hoops say 10 PM? Any thoughts?
